Growing
Gold Resources |
|
Gold resources (fourth quarter 2005) are estimated at approximately
3.4 million ounces of measured and
indicated resources [1] and 0.6 million
ounces of inferred resources [1]
up from a total of 200,000 ounces in 1995.

Closely-Spaced, Near Surface Gold Deposits |
| |
Four
gold deposits have been discovered along the Meadowbank gold trend,
a 25 kilometre long trend encompassing 35,000 hectares of land. The
known gold resources are situated within 225 metres of surface, making
the project amenable to open pit mining methods. |

Portage and Goose Island Deposits
The original deposits - Portage and Goose Island deposits - are located within 500 metres
of each other and are hosted within inter-layered iron formations
of the Meadowbank gold trend.
Vault Deposit
The Vault gold deposit, located five kilometres north of the four
original gold deposits, is hosted within sheared volcaniclastic
rocks of the Meadowbank gold trend.
PDF Deposit
The PDF gold deposits is located 10 kilometres northwest of the
Vault deposit.

Cannu Zone Discovery in 2005 and Inferred Resources in 2006 |
| |
A zone of high grade, near surface gold mineralization, the Cannu zone, was discovered and evaluated during the 2005 drill program
A total of 30 holes were completed at the Cannu zone in 2005 and an initial resource estimate for the zone was prepared in April 2006. Gold resources at the Cannu zone (April 2006) are estimated at approximately 85,000 ounces of inferred mineral resouces [1] contained in 440,000 tonnes grading 6.0 g/t gold. |

Continuous Zone of Mineralization Links Cannu Zone and Proposed Portage Open Pit |
| |
The Cannu zone gold mineralization represents a potential 350 metre northern extension of the reserves defined in the proposed Portage open pit, the largest of the three proposed open pits at Meadowbank. |

Focus on Resource and Reserve Growth at Cannu Zone |
| |
The 2006 exploration program at Cannu included both infill and step-out drilling to define the extent of the mineralization and enable a reserve estimate. To date, the program has been successful in defining four distinct lenses of mineralization within a shallow, bowl-shaped structure. |
